Newcastle Food & Drink Festival Unveils Inaugural Date for Event in May 2024

Introducing Newcastle's inaugural Food and Drink Festival, a harmonious blend of culinary exploration, musical festivities, and charitable endeavors dedicated to mental health support. Set to debut after meticulous planning, the festival promises a weekend filled with flavor, talent, and community spirit.

Taking place at Exhibition Park over the early May bank holiday weekend, Newcastle welcomes this grand festival, long celebrated in Leeds. With a focus on showcasing local delights and supporting mental health initiatives, the event has forged a partnership with Tyneside and Northumberland Mind, contributing generously to their cause.

Event director Michael Johnston is thrilled to unveil the festival at Exhibition Park, highlighting its fusion of music, gastronomy, and philanthropy. Attendees can anticipate a diverse lineup of 18 musical performances, eight hours of live chef demonstrations, and an array of regional specialties at the Artisan Market. The Street Food Arena promises a global culinary journey, complemented by independent bars serving craft beverages.

Festival manager Nikki Orrell underscores the event's regional emphasis, providing a platform for local businesses to shine. Families can enjoy live entertainment, children's activities, and ample seating amidst the festivities, reflecting Newcastle's rich cultural tapestry through its diverse cuisine.

In alignment with Tyneside and Northumberland Mind, the festival serves as both a culinary celebration and a beacon for mental health advocacy. Attendees are encouraged to contribute a nominal £1.50 donation to Mind Tyneside & Northumberland, enhancing accessibility through early bird ticket options.

The Newcastle Food and Drink Festival marks a significant addition to the city's cultural landscape, promising an enriching experience for all while championing an important cause. As anticipation builds, it's evident that this culinary extravaganza will captivate food enthusiasts, families, and advocates of mental health awareness alike.
